Below is the basic information about the Road to Europe Final Series tournaments, Bonus Pool and the 7/3 rule.


7/3-regulation

To be included in the final Golfbox Road to Europe and to be eligible to enter the Final Series, a player must participate in a minimum of seven (7) Nordic Golf League tournaments in at least three (3) of the Nordic countries.

Winter Series and Spring Series events counts as an event played in the hosting tours country, i.e. Swedish Golf Tour Winter Series is Sweden, ECCO Tour Spring Series is Denmark etc.

However; if Finland and Norway combined have three or less tournaments on the main season schedule, the Winter Series and Spring Series events counts as an event played in Spain, and this is the case in 2021 as Norway had to cancelled their events and Finland only had two events played.

  • A player who does not fulfil 7/3 rules will be removed from the final ranking.
  • In the event of a tie for any position on the final Golfbox Road to Europe, the player’s final positions will be determined in order of the highest number of points earned in a single Nordic Golf League tournament.
  • You can see the preliminary “Cleaned Ranking” as it is before Visby Open. Players that do not, or no longer is able to fulfill the 7/3 rule has been highlighted with green

Graduation – Who will gain a Challenge Tour category for 2022

  • The leading 5 players to a limit of 10th place, not otherwise exempt, on the final 2021 Golfbox Road to Europe will gain a category 13b for the 2022 Challenge Tour
  • The next 5 players to a limit of 15th place, not otherwise exempt, will gain a category 20 for the 2022 Challenge Tour

Final Series entries – Who can play

In the three final series the fields will be decided based on the current “Cleaned Ranking” ranking and not on the category system. A cleaned ranking will be produced after Visby Open and again after Race to HimmerLand and Moregolf Tourfinal. Only players that can fulfill the 7/3 rules will be eligible to play – However, should the fields not be full, players that are outside top 100 or can’t fulfil the 7/3 rule will be offered a spot in ranking order. These players will be competing for prize money only and can’t earn ranking points.

Race to Himmerland by FREJA 6-8 October

  • Field: 72 spots, cut for 30 players + ties
  • Field selection: Top 100 on the Golfbox Road to Europe ranking after Visby Open (that can fulfil the 7/3-regulation) will be eligible to participate.
  • The field is decided according to the ranking.
  • Should the field not be full, players that are outside top 100 or can’t fulfil the 7/3 rule will be offered a spot in ranking order.
  • These players will be competing for prize money only and can’t earn ranking points.

MoreGolf Mastercard Tour Final – PGA Sweden National 13-15 October

  • Field: 50 spots, no cut
  • Field selection: Top 55 on the Golfbox Road to Europe ranking after Race to HimmerLand (that can fulfil the 7/3-regulation) will be eligible to participate. 
  • The field is decided according to the ranking.
  • Should the field not be full, players that are outside top 100 or can’t fulfil the 7/3 rule will be offered a spot in ranking order.
  • These players will be competing for prize money only and can’t earn ranking points.

Road to Europe Final – 20-22 October

  • Field: 30 spots, no cut
  • Field selection: Top 35 on the Golfbox Road to Europe ranking after Moregolf Mastercard Tour Final (that can fulfil the 7/3-regulation) will be eligible to  participate.
  • The field is decided according to the ranking.
  • Should the field not be full, players that are outside top 100 or can’t fulfil the 7/3 rule will be offered a spot in ranking order.
  • These players will be competing for prize money only and can’t earn ranking points.

Bonus Pool

  • All prize monéy “won” by amatuers during the 2021 season acarries over to a bonus pool for the top 30 professionals on the final Golfbox Road to Europe 2021.
  • To be eligible for a share of the Bonus Pool a player must fulfill the 7/3 rule
  • Bonus pool breakdown. The average amount of money that should have been earned by amateur players if they would have been professionals
    per season from 2015-2019 was 47.500 €. The bonus pool is distributed with 12% for the winner and then down to 1,10% for the player in 30th position
