Amateur Money goes to new Bonus Pool

From 2019 Amateur-money will be paid out as a bonus for Top-20 players at the end of the season

From 2019 the Nordic Golf League has made a change to the way “Amateur-money/earnings” are distributed. Instead of the money going to the professional players in the given event, all Amateur Money is kept in a Bonus Pool. This Bonus Pool is divided and paid out to the Top 20 players on the NGL Ranking at the end of the season.

The Board does not feel that a professional should benefit financially from finishing behind an amateur in a tournament. A 2nd place should be rewarded with the money (and points) equal to a 2nd place finish. However, the board acknowledges that the money should stay in the prize pool in some way, and the most fair way to distribute the money was this:

  • The 20 best players on the GolfBox Nordic Golf League Ranking after the Tour Final will share the bonus equally.
    • Based on recent years, this pool should add up to between 40,000 and 50,000 Euro. That means that each player in the Top 20 should be rewarded with somewhere between 2,000 and 2,500 Euro.
  • To be able to receive the bonus money, a player must participate in the last two tournaments of the year:
    • Tournament 1 – Race to Himmerland, Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort, Denmark from October 4th – 6th.
    • Tournament 2 – Tourfinal
